COVID Safety Layers - Swiss Cheese Model

Multiple Layers Imrpove Success infographic by Rose Wong.
Adapted from Ian M. Mackay and James T. Reason.
The Swiss Cheese Respiratory Pandemic Defense recognizes that no single intervention is perfect at preventing the spread of the coronavirus. Each intervention (layer) has holes.
Under the text there is a series of Swiss cheese slices with holes in different parts. There is an arrow showing green spiky particles going through these holes at different entry points. At the beginning of the layers there are many green spiky coronavirus particles. As the layers of cheese progress, less virus particles get through.
Each slice of cheese is labelled and divided into personal or shared responsibilities.
Personal responsibilities:
Physical distance, stay home if sick
Masks
Hand hygiene, cough etiquette
Avoid touching your face
If crowded, limit your time
Fast and sensitive testing and tracing
Shared responsibilities:
Ventilation, outdoors, air filtration
Government messaging & financial support
Quarantine & isolation
Vaccines

Masks / Respirators

FFP2/FFP3 respirators are our best defense against the aerosol spread of COVID. Consider upgrading from a medical/surgical mask or cloth masks to an FFP2 or FFP3 respirator mask. (Why wear an FFP2 respirator instead of a surgical mask?, second source)

Wear a mask any time you’re indoors, or in a crowd outdoors.

Think filtration, fit, and function
